Abet Laminati explores the shifting nature of surfaces at HIX 2026

Abet Laminati explores the shifting nature of surfaces at HIX 2026

What happens when a surface refuses to stay the same? That question sits at the heart of Abet Laminati’s presentation at HIX 2026, where the Italian laminate specialist will explore the changing relationship between material, light and space through ‘Changes’.

Rather than treating surfaces as a static backdrop, the installation considers how they can actively shape the atmosphere and perception of an interior. As light moves across a room, colours shift, textures become more pronounced and reflective finishes take on new qualities. The result is an environment that can feel subtly different throughout the day, depending on the angle, illumination and perspective of the viewer.

Central to the stand will be Real Metal, Abet Laminati's collection of authentic metal laminates. With their inherent depth, texture and variation, the materials bring a more tactile dimension to the contemporary interior, balancing the visual impact of metal with the versatility of laminate.

The collection is particularly relevant to hospitality spaces, where material choices play an increasingly important role in establishing identity. From hotel bedrooms and bars to restaurants, public areas and bespoke furniture, surfaces can be used to create a sense of atmosphere as well as defining how a space looks and feels.

‘Changes’ places this idea of materiality under the spotlight. Metallic surfaces catch and redirect light, while colour and texture introduce further layers of visual interest. Some applications are deliberately restrained, adding a subtle shimmer or tactile detail; others are more expressive, using the surface itself as a focal point.

For designers, the appeal lies in the possibilities created by this interplay. Rather than prescribing a single aesthetic, Abet Laminati’s collection provides a palette with which to explore contrast, reflection, texture and depth — qualities that can be particularly powerful within the layered environments of hospitality design.

The presentation also reflects a wider interest in materials that do more than simply replicate another finish. Authenticity, tactility and sensory experience have become increasingly significant in interiors, with designers looking for ways to give spaces a stronger physical and emotional character.

At HIX 2026, Abet Laminati will invite visitors to experience these qualities first-hand, bringing together Real Metal and a selection of laminate solutions for hospitality and interior applications.
