SECTO: The Essence of Finland
Finnish lighting brand Secto Design returns to HIX LDN to showcase its latest pendant lamp Adilo, alongside a curated selection of classic ranges. For the 2025 edition, the brand also presents The Essence of Finland – a sculptural installation created with Conran and Partners, reflecting the harmony of light, craftsmanship and nature at the heart of Secto Design.
Created by industrial designer and wood artisan Ilkka Kauppinen, the Adilo pendant is handmade in Heinola, Finland, using locally sourced, PEFC-certified birch, and merges the brand’s signature elements of birch wood and geometric precision with an innovative fold-out structure, unfurling from its initial flat form into a sculptural pendant in a single, fluid motion. Alongside Adilo, selected pieces by architect and designer Seppo Koho will also be displayed.
Created with the internationally renowned architecture and interior design practice Conran and Partners, The Essence of Finland invites visitors to experience the quiet interplay of light, material and form. Conceived by Senior Designer Amy Blight, the installation draws on her first visit to Finland and Secto Design’s approach to sustainability.
“There was a profound sense of calm in how light interacts with space in Finland,” says Blight. “The honesty of the materials and the clarity of the design language stayed with me.”
The installation takes the form of a triptych, each element exploring a facet of Secto Design’s DNA: Forest & Materiality, Lakes & Reflection, and Light & Contrast. “The rhythm of light and shadow that defines our lamps stems from the essence of northern nature,” notes Tuula Jusélius, Founder and Creative Director of Secto Design.
