HIX announces 2025 theme
The Hotel Interior Experience (HIX) – Europe’s leading hotel design event – has revealed the theme set to guide its 2025 programme. Influencing every element of the show, from the topics up for debate on the HIX Talks stage to the soundtracks at dedicated HIX Social sessions, this year’s theme of Culture Clash celebrates the unique power of hotel design to bring people together and broaden their horizons.
Taking place on 26 & 27 November at London’s Business Design Centre, HIX connects the hospitality design community with two days of insightful talks, inspiring designs, immersive installations and an exhibition of over 200 major interior labels. Welcoming 5,000 designers, architects, developers, operators, investors, owners and suppliers, each year’s agenda is informed by a core principle that recognises a key challenge, opportunity or value in the quickly shifting hotel landscape.
Last year this was ‘A Sense of Place’, recognising the rise and rise of hyperlocal hospitality sensibilities, while ‘Great Things Will Grow’ back in 2022 was a reminder that despite the immense uncertainty of a generational crisis, the hotel industry had everything it needed to come back stronger than ever.
In an increasingly globalised yet divided world, the capacity for hospitality and hotels to bring down barriers between guest from disparate cultures and backgrounds is more important than ever. Hotels. after all, showcase the best a culture has to offer in one of the most important measures of success – how it looks after others.
From the Japanese concept of omotenashi that composes hospitality around care rather than expectation, to the Atithidevo Bhava principles of India that see guests considered as gods, each continent, country, society and tribe has its own take on what constitutes an exceptional stay.
Exploring the intersection of design, heritage and philosophy, Culture Clash is a platform for hotel design without borders, with the HIX 2025 programme celebrating the diverse range of customs, values, traditions and aesthetics that underpin local and global hospitality cultures alike.
